RV Connections Can Help with Recalls
Have you ever owned a vehicle that was recalled? Manufacturers recall vehicles for many reasons. Most are for technical issues that can be dealt with easily by your local RV dealership and are preventative recalls, meaning no issues have been reported but the model does not meet certain industry safety standards. Other recalls can be major and are formed as a result of reported incidences or because the consequences of not fixing the issue are major.
There have been some major recalls in the RV industry lately that are important RV owners pay attention to. One major RV manufacturer, Jayco, has had two recently. They have recalled the 2013-2014 Seneca Motor home w/Tri Mark Keyless Entry System. Investigations have shown that water infiltration into the keypad by the entrance door can cause erosion and could even cause an electrical short in the panel. This could lead to a fire outbreak at any time. The other model RV they have recalled is in the 2014-2015 White Hawk Summit 27RBOK travel trailers. Reports have shown that one tire may rub against the outrigger when making sharp turns, possibly causing wear on the tire which can lead to an increased crash risk.
So, what happens when an RV you own is on the recall list? You will be notified via mail if your model RV is involved in the recall. If it is, from there you need to find an RV dealership near you and have their service department take care of the repairs as soon as possible. Most recalls are free depending on the year the model was made; otherwise you may end up paying a little out of pocket. But, not to worry, most recalls are discovered within the first few years of introduction.
If your RV is one of the models recalled by Jayco or Entegra Coach recently, you are in luck.
