The Myakka River State Park
Located at 13208 SR 72 in Sarasota, offers over 57 square miles of wetlands, prairies, and pine lands with scenic stretches of river that winds throughout. Two shallow lakes attached to the rivers attract exotic wildlife that bring people from all over to participate in activities such as birding, fishing and wildlife observation. The park also offers canoeing and kayaking and is open year round.
Gold Head Branch State Park
Gold Head Branch state Park is located at 6239 State Road 21 in Keystone Heights and expands over 2300 acres of rolling sandhills.
There are several lakes and ravines that fuel seepage springs that cut through 1.5 miles of land. Gold Head is home to many exoticwildlife such as bald eagles, sherman's fox squirrels, gopher tortoises, woodpeckers and many more.
The Florida Caverns State Park is located at 3345 Caverns Road in Marianna and are the only dry caves in the state, meaning air-filled and not under water. Therefore the Caverns are the only State Park to offer guided tours through the caves.
You'll witness numerous formations of stalagmites and stalactites and draperies that expand from the floor to ceiling of the caves. Florida Caverns State Park also has a new 9-hole golf course and freshwater springs for canoeing and boating.
